Wtf?! He really did ring his dinger there! Along with Brad Peters and Curtis Hibbert, Phillipe was one of Canada’s most successful gymnasts in the 80’s. Known for his trademark glasses in competition, his best event was High Bar (not this time!) He did many difficult 1-arm sequences capped off with a triple back dismount. WTF?! James was nuts to even attempt this. On the new vault yes, old vault no. This type of vault is now barrred from competition. British National Champion in ’89, he competed in 3 worlds and retired after the ’92 Olympics. Awarded the “Master Gymnast of Great Britain,” he is currently a Brevet Judge.
